Unboxing ‘Beware the Spider’

DLH-Unboxing Beware the SpiderA box arrived from Amazon filled with paperback copies of Beware the Spider, the new entry in the Black Orchid Chronicles.

While I prefer reading books on my tablet, I order a number of paper copies to inscribe for folks who helped during the creating process. In most cases, the gift of a book cannot come close to showing my gratitude, but you do what you can.

The rest—most of them—will go to reviewers.

You can get your hard copy from Amazon and digital versions of all kinds from these digital booksellers.

‘Beware the Spider’ Launches Today

Beware the Spider, the newest entry in the Black Orchid Chronicles, launched today.

Beware the Spider - 3D small

It is available in ebook format from Amazon, Apple, Barnes & Noble (Nook), Kobo, Scribd and Smashwords. A trade paperback edition (5.5 x 8.5″, 302 pp.) is available only at Amazon.

In Book 2 of the Chronicles, nature photographer Sebastian Arnett holds a terrible secret: He can kill with his thoughts, a curse placed on him by an ancient spider demon that controls when he can use the power.

His attempts to break the curse take him to a confrontation with a mysterious aboriginal in the Australian outback and then to the demon’s jungle home in Borneo.

Before he can crack the code, ruthless Chinese crime lords hear of his power and go searching for him, hoping to acquire the power. Afraid to tackle Sebastian directly, they kidnap the woman he loves and set off a wild train chase that ends in a battle of demons and leaves Sebastian powerless to confront the victor.

The Black Orchid Chronicles, which launched in 2018, starts with The Mark of the Spider, which is free TODAY ONLY in ebook format at Amazon.

Book Proofs_IMG_6256

There they are: Proofs of the three books I’ve managed to kick out the door.

My Viet Nam-era memoir, HOTEL CONSTELLATION, and the first Black Orchid Chronicle, The Mark of the Spider, are still available on Amazon, Apple Books, Barnes & Noble, Kobo, Scribd and Smashwords.

The Mark of the Spider is available FREE on Amazon in ebook format for just a few more days.

On Monday, the lastest but probably not the last, Beware the Spider will debut.

Give it a look.

More to Come

I’m taking the summer off from the Black Orchid Chronicles, but I’ve committed myself to finishing a sci-fi first contact book I’m calling PSNGR.

And I’ve told myself I must wrap up the short story about my experience as a morgue escort on a dark and stormy night many years ago. I think I’ll call that one A La Cart.
